From Experience to Purpose
Operational Resilience Systems LLC was born from one horrible day.
On October 12, 2022, Bristol Police Officer Alec Iurato responded to a call that would end with the loss of two fellow officers and leave Alec shot five times.
He survived. But survival was only the beginning.
Five surgeries, months of physical therapy, counseling, every form of therapy, and countless difficult days followed. Alec eventually returned to the job, but he and his family quickly learned that some wounds don't disappear when the uniform goes back on.
His then-fiancée, now wife, Kayla, lived the other side of that experience: watching someone she loved fight to recover while navigating fear, grief, and healing of her own.
Together, they learned something that would ultimately become the foundation of ORS:
Critical incidents don't end when the officer comes home. And they don't only affect the person wearing the uniform.
ORS was created because we can't change what happened, but we can choose what we do with it.
Today, we use our experience to give back to the profession and the people who stood beside us when we needed them most. Through training, education, and honest conversations, we work to better prepare officers, agencies, and families for the realities of trauma, adversity, and life after a critical incident.
We don't have all the answers. We're still learning. We're still healing.
But if the hardest chapter of our lives can help prepare someone for theirs, help an officer realize they aren't alone, or help a family understand what comes next, then sharing it means something.
We couldn't choose what happened to us.
We can choose what we do with it.That's why ORS exists.
